YFTAS X Fair fashion fest gent

On 27 April 2024, as part of Fashion Revolution Week, the Fair Trade Advocacy Office organised a session "Towards a Fair textile sector: What happens after the EU elections?” at the Fair Fashion Fest in Gent. The panel featured MEPs Sara Matthieu (Greens/EFA) and Kathleen Van Brempt (S&D) and was moderated by the Young Fair Trade Advocate Tena Lavrenčić. The session discussed how to move towards a textile sector where workers earn a living wage and cotton farmers receive a living income, what needs to happen for manufacturers to move to more sustainable production including with respect for human rights and what the EU can do to solve the persisting challenges.
